Here is a screenshot of Alex Becker’s YouTube channel with his most popular videos first.

Of course the videos about broke guys getting Lamborghini’s and picking up girls getting Lamborghini’s have around 150k views. There are lots of guys who are interested in this subject. (Tip if you want an even hotter niche try Shark Attack videos. Millions of views crazy!)

His video where he actually makes some money is his making  a website video which directs people to his web hosting affiliate link. Notice his “How to make millions online PT” title. You are not going to make millions online just making a website but people love the make money do nothing pitch and Becker knows it. If he just put “How to Make a Website” as the title he might have 3 views. He would be buried under the zillions of other boring how to make a website videos.

Even still he only has a few thousand fews (still really good for only a few weeks and for the niche) compared to the over 100k views for the hot topic videos. It is not Becker’s fault. People are just interested in silly stuff.

He is using the momentum and subscribers from the hot topic videos to drive traffic to the how to make a website videos. It is working but I wonder how well picking up chicks in Ferrari video traffic converts to making a website.

I think this technique can work if you just need raw traffic to your website and do not really care if converts. Because one of the main factors in ranking your sites in search is just pure traffic.

I used this on my site www.bestplumberfortlauderdale.com when I uploaded a ton of videos about Ft. Lauderdale to YouTube and directed the traffic back to my local plumber site. The goal was to get “Local” traffic to my website. It worked the site has been ranked on the first page of Google for “Best Plumber Fort Lauderdale” for months. The is about a $28. per click keyword.

So the jury is somewhat out on the technique of using hot topic videos to drive general traffic to your niche sites.

I am considering adding a “YouTube Trends” blog to my domain which will only follow hot trends on YouTube. The goal would be to get more raw real traffic to my website that I am not getting talking about marketing. Not 100% sure if this technique is kosher which is usually a good sign.

I give the video 3 stars because he has some good basic concepts but they are not developed fully. I will keep you posted on my experiments.
