Why Every Blogger Should Have a Mobile Optimized Site
The blogosphere has become so competitive these days that I’m pretty sure that only those who are ready to change will stand the test of time.
We’re used to the same method and approach of delivering information to our readers, but our readers are changing, and I think the only way to survive is to start focusing on making our content easily available to our readers.
One Way to Do this is via Mobile Marketing
Try to take a look at your blog marketing approach for a few minutes and ask yourself how much effort is committed towards serving mobile users. If I were you, I’m sure the answer is zero; and for those of us that happen to give mobile marketing a concern, we’re probably paying very insignificant attention to it.
The world is changing fast, and we need to change with it to succeed as bloggers.
The reality is that of all the mobile phones in the world, a whooping 1 billion+ are smartphones, and over 53% of entire mobile phone users in the US own a Smartphone. This is a good sign that the mobile internet is the way to go, and I’ll be sharing a few reasons why every blogger should have a mobile optimized site below.
1. It is Experiencing Phenomenal Growth
The mobile internet space is experiencing such a huge growth than you might want to believe right now.
Mobile traffic in 2011 alone is 8 times bigger than the entire internet traffic in 2000. Just take a look at that, and you’ll see that is a huge growth of over 700% in just a decade.
More and more people are catching on with mobile internet usage right now, the number of mobile internet users is expected to double in 2015, and there are speculations that the mobile internet would soon become bigger than traditional internet usage.
The phenomenal growth sure has a good reason; our mobile devices are such a huge part of our lives these days that we rely more on them than our computers. We probably turn to our smartphones first thing in the morning, and last thing in the night; and with the kind of growth and marketing Smartphone manufacturing companies like Apple and RIM are experiencing, it’s only a matter of time before everyone owns a Smartphone.
2. Very Few People are Catching On
Very few bloggers pay attention to having a mobile enabled site, and, even after this article, I’m sure a lot more people will still be unaware of the importance of having a mobile enabled site.
Most sites are horrible when visited with a mobile phone these days, but a lot of bloggers could care less. It is natural for readers to abandon a blog that is difficult to read, so making your site mobile compatible will make it more appealing when compared to that of a competitor.
Most bloggers will soon start adapting their blogs to support mobile phones over time, once they notice it is inevitable, but I believe you will benefit on the long run if you can capitalize on it right now.
3. The Internet in Your Readers’ Pockets
That has always been the dream; we want to have full control and still be mobile. We want to have access to the best information in the world without having to sacrifice our freedom, and just that is worth mobile internet access promote.
People can now travel the world and still catch up on reading their favorite blogs, and they don’t have to worry about compatibility issues with their mobile devices.
The smart blogger knows that the key to success is to give your readers control; the key to success is to let them have the world in their pockets; it is to let them have access to your information anytime, anyhow, and from anywhere in the world.
4. It is Unavoidable
Yes, that’s right.
In fact, here’s a link to data that says by 2014, mobile internet is expected to overtake desktop internet usage.
Yeah, that’s a huge fact we have to face; it’s only two years from now, and you will only lose by ignoring mobile internet access right now.
It’s All about Change
It is unavoidable.
Now is the time to put the world in the hands of our readers, and we can only move forward by focusing on this.
Make sure you’re ready to change your approach by giving your readers more control, and one great way to do this is by having a mobile optimized blog.
