Making Money With The The YouTube Sniper Technique
YouTube has now surpassed Yahoo to become the number 2 search engine behind Google. There is tons of traffic to be had on YouTube. What is really crazy is that many of the videos getting hundreds of thousands even millions of views are not authored by marketers but by amateurs, hobbyists or those who just happened to post a video that lots of people are interested in. Most YouTube channel owners do not have a clue how to monetize their videos. They are not marketers. This is an advantage for you.
The YouTube Sniper technique consists of finding really popular videos in a chosen niche that have no links in the descriptions or videos and getting the owner to place a link to your website or affiliate link in his video by paying him a small fee. Since most YouTube channel owners are not marketers and have never even thought of trying to monetize their videos it is often easy to negotiate a very good price for the placement of your link in their video description and annotations.
To execute the YouTube Sniper technique first you need to find a profitable niche. The work is the same so there is no sense beating your head against the wall promoting a niche which does not bring results. This really should be a niche which is generating large amounts of YouTube views. You then need to find a quality reliable affiliate program or product that you would like to pitch to the viewers of these popular videos.
Now you need to try to find an appropriate video in your niche. Just go to YouTube and start typing in keywords related to your niche. You want to find videos that not only have lots of views but those that are getting lots of views now. If a video is 5 years old and has 1 million views maybe it used to be popular but now longer is popular. One trick is to search by view count and then look for videos that were uploaded within the last month. If you find a video which has had 300,000 views within the last month you may have a winner!
You should also check out the comments. Is the video getting lots of fresh comments? This is important. This shows people are actively watching the video and responding. You are getting their attention. You can also check the stats bar. Here is a screenshot of an mma video that got over 500,000 views in just 3 weeks! There are some very hot niches out there! Do you have anything to sell mma fans? Here is an idea. heck out who sponsors these events and see if those products or related products have affiliate programs. Look at the red arrow. This is the stats button. Just click on this button in any YouTube video to check out the detailed stats for the video.
Something to be careful of is the ages of the people watching the video. There are some videos getting tremendous amounts of traffic which are appealing to under 18 viewers. This may not be the best market for your products. Take this and the other social data into account when picking which products to promote to these viewers.
I would also check to see if you the video owner is putting a link promoting products in the description and in the annotations. If he is not promoting anything he is not making any money with the video. He therefore should be more receptive to your offer.
Next simply send a short low key email like this to the video owner:
I was wondering if you would be willing to put a link in one of your videos. I would be willing to pay you for it. Maybe even on a continuing basis. Get back to me when you can.
Keep it short and to the point. If the owner gets back to you, negotiate then monitor the success of the campaign. If it goes well you can give him a percentage or fixed fee each month.
That is it! Please let me know your comments.
Thank you,
Matt
