Using Controversial Press Releases To Get More Backlinks And Traffic
[powerpress] I recently started a classified ad submission service. I was looking for a way to get the word out (other than just classified ads LOL!) I remembered that I had had some good luck in the search engines with press release marketing. However, I wanted an edge to my press release. I did not just want to submit the typical “internet marketing” self serving obvious seo only type press release. I wanted a shot of actual real journalists picking up my press release and re-publishing it on real sites that humans actually view.
Hmmm? What to do? I decided to write about how online classified ads are dominating the black market for such controversial subjects as escorts, massages and pain medication. I included appropriate links back to my Squidoo page (Does Online Classified Advertising Really Work?), a popular post I have with over 170 comments with a list of classified ads sites, and of course a link back to my classified ad submission service. I distributed the press release to 25 different press release sites. The title is “From Sex Slaves To Oxycoton Online Classified Advertising Dominates The American Grey Market.”
They range from PR 1-7. Here they are:

What are some controversial angles about your business? Go ahead and write a controversial press release about your business, submit it to the top press release sites and let us know how it goes here. Remember, try to write a press release which actually contains real news not a press release which is just pure promotion. You have to be more subtle with your self-promotion with press release marketing. Your comments are appreciated. Please share this article if you find it interesting.
