What you should know about Organic Traffic for Maximum Conversion?

 

Get loads of traffic and you will have maximum conversion; this is probably every marketer’s motto. Unfortunately, traffic is not directly proportional to conversion rate. Not every visitor you gain is interested in purchasing the product. Some are casual surfers while others potential buyers. Considering the above statement traffic can be broadly classified into

  1. Surfers and
  2. Buyers

Casual Surfers

These are people looking for information and nothing more. Generally, they use search engines, type in search terms, grasp available information, and move on. This being said, the majority of organic searches we get are surfers.

Potential buyers

These are the ones looking for purchasing products. A potential buyer undergoes three phases before purchasing a product:

  1. Casual Surfer- 1st phase
  2. Researches price and product- 2nd phase
  3. Potential buyer- 3rd phase

As you can see a potential buyer undergoes the part of casual surfer before purchasing a product. To understand each in detail an elaborate discussion is necessary.

1. Casual Surfer (First phase of buyer)

Buyers within first phase are completely different from casual surfers mentioned above. In this case, the buyer is interested in making a purchase but requires time and information to make the right decision. The buyer in this phase picks relevant information with respect to the product.

2. Researches price and product

Information gathered from the first phase is used on making the right decision. It is in this phase that a buyer starts comparing quality with price tags. A buyer, depending upon the need, may opt for a cheap or high quality product. In this phase, the buyer jumps from one site to another deriving conclusion regarding the purchase of product.

3. Potential Buyer/Customer

Finally, at the third stage the buyer decides upon purchasing a product. Surprisingly the buyer is no longer just a buyer. He/she is turned into a potential customer with periodical purchases in later stages.

What does this broad classification of traffic say?

Unless you are looking for generalized traffic, it should be analyzed in depth. It will not only increases conversion but also increase the effectiveness altogether.

How do I gain potential buyers?

The filtering process is easy. Place yourself in the shoes of buyers in your niche.

Let me show an example. I run a forex site, which promotes forex robots. Buyers in this case are forex traders looking for software that will increase their investment. Generally, their search terms are ‘forex trading software’, ‘forex trading system’, ‘Forex copy software’ etc. These terms, however, will attract buyers in their first phase, as the search terms are general. For a profound affect, I can include the type of software. In my case, it is ‘Pipject Forex Software’and ‘Megadroid Forex Robot’. Obviously, if the SERPs are tweaked to show my site for the terms then I will be attracting potential buyers in their second and third phase gaining phenomenal conversion rate.

In short, the idea is to integrate the product’s name to lure in the right sort of buyer (2nd and 3rd phase). Therefore, the next time you are tweaking the search engines, think twice and go a little further to ensure buyers land on your page and not just surfers.
