5 Tips For Improving Your SEO With Pinterest

Search engine optimization has changed a lot over the past few months. After search engines started favoring social media, the classical SEO techniques started to become less effective or even obsolete.  Gone are the days when keyword stuffed content would give any kind of decent page rank. Google or any search engine for that matter now looks for something that is likely to be liked by more people. One way of evaluating content is its popularity on social media like Facebook, Twitter and of course Pinterest. Here are some tips that would help you gain attention on Pinterest and as a result get a high page rank.

1-     Add in Photos

The images you upload are more effective if they are yours; adding in someone else’s attachment is not always the best way to go. But you can do so occasionally. Ideally, what you upload should be a mixture of your unique images and shared content from other friends on Pintrest.

2-     Better Content Than Ever

The more content you share on Pinterest, the better it will be. But make sure the content is both extremely entertaining and hence likely to go viral or very informative and fresh so that more and more people follow it and share it further.

3-     Quality Shares

You should upload the material that you yourself find interesting. An image that you would ignore will most likely be ignored by other people too. Upload attractive images that more and more people are likely to be attracted to and are tempted to share. The whole point is to get more people view something and pass it on. The popularity of a post or an image on social media is precisely what search engines are looking for, so this should be your aim too.

4-     Use the Description Space Wisely

The pictures that you pin on Pinterest should have some description added to them. This is your chance to add some lines with the keywords of your choice. But as you do it, make sure you do not use up the entire 500 word allotment for each image.. If you take all the 500 word space and fill it up with a keyword stuffed description, Google and other search engines could see this as unnatural way of gaining search engine attention and a higher page rank.  So, use the description space wisely, and leave out a little less than at least half the space. Also, whatever you write, give it a natural and pleasant flow instead of stuffing it all up with keywords because that probably could end up hurting you more than helping you!

5-     Connect Intricately

It is a smarter move to connect to Pinterest through your other social media accounts like Facebook and My Space. The more you connect, the better it is. This way your friends on other social media platforms will be driven to your Pinterest content and hence you will gain more attention in terms of search engine optimization.

The above techniques are to guide you through the newly innovated critera of page ranking. An  easy way of doing this effectively through Pinterest is by uploading attractive images with naturally written description of well below 500 words, and having a reasonable keyword density.
