How Small Businesses Can Be More Successful Online

Setting up your first business can be really difficult at times – and it seems as though it is one tribulation after another at times. The most important thing though, when your small business is starting out – is getting yourselves off the ground, and making real money and gaining real customers.

Embracing the internet and using it to your advantage is really important when you’re a small business – not only is it now a crucial marketing tool – but it is also free! Most online tools we use on the internet for marketing and making money are free to sign up for – meaning that you get maximum returns for minimum input.

1. Get blogging

Increasing your businesses exposure, and their rankings on search engines – you’ll want to be producing and publishing fresh, original content on your website on a weekly basis. The easiest way to do this is to create a blog and get updating on a regular basis! Remember, that the more content you produce the better – and the higher you rank online and the more people share your blog posts – the more traffic you’ll get to your website, which can lead to more revenue.

2. Guest Blog

Guest blogging is great for two reasons. One, it increases the publicity of your brand and introduces your brand to new people and potentially new customers. The second reason it is great is because it has SEO value (which means you’ll rank higher for search terms). Ranking higher means your click-through rate will improve – which can translate to more sales and more customers.

3. Join Social Networks

Joining a social network (or 2 or 3) can really help boost your online reputation and also help build great communication with your customers. Promoting yourselves using social media is the best way to start communicating with people and getting your brand name out there too, and the best bit is – it is relatively easy to set up and maintain. There are some amazing apps out there for scheduling updates ahead of time – meaning you can schedule everything ahead of time.

4. Send free products to bloggers

There are loads of bloggers out there who are happy to accept free stuff – so send it to them! Sounds pretty easy right? That’s because it is! If you sell curtains – send some free samples over to some home improvement bloggers and let them blog about the product you sent! It will increase your publicity and get your name out there for readers other than your own!
