What To Do When You Are Not Getting Good Results

When you talk with many brick and mortar business entrepreneurs, they are not too concerned about how hard their employees work. They are more focused on results.  The concept is simple, everything that we do is for a means to an end, and that end is the expected outcome – profit.

Any business that is going to pass the test of time must transfer productivity into profit. In other words, the returns that come in from a project completed must be more than the cost of carrying out that task. We call that the Return On Investment (ROI). If your business is spending more and getting less, you are bankrupt without knowing it.

A lot of people take pride in the fact that they are working very hard especially when they are doing it for someone else. However, many times, they are less concerned with the actual results they are delivering for their employers.

Whether it is an online or offline business, the concerns are the same – results that lead to profit are what matter in the end. So what to do when you are not getting good results in your internet marketing business ?

The first place to begin is to examine your email list. Is it a responsive list, were you treating them right? Or were you abusing them? Or were you ignoring them and taking them for granted? Are you consistently building your list, and are you focusing on laser targeted subscribers relevant to your niche?

The methods you use to grow your list and where you recruit them are important. That means, it is not the size of your list that will determine your success. You could have a list with a few hundred subscribers that is more productive and getting better results than someone who has  with a ten thousand member list.

To recruit a high quality list, you have to find leads that are not only interested in your niche, but are already spending or willing to buy products in that niche.

Having your own list is absolutely the most important factor for the online entrepreneurs. Some people call it the life blood or the back bone of your business. Without an active email list, you really do not have a business.

Secondly, I would look at the squeeze page. Notice the word squeeze, it is not called a “squeeze page” for no reason. That is exactly what it is suppose to do, squeeze the information out of the prospects coming to your web page.

This page should be simple, plain with clear instructions that a seventh grade student could easily follow. The headline should be compelling with big, bold red letters that command attention. The headline is believed by some to be the most important area of your squeeze page. This means that you should spend more time creating the most effective headline for your page as possible.

You should create a second page and split test to see which is performing better. The truth is, everything you do on line should be split tested to see what level of results you are getting and where you need to make adjustments.

You squeeze page should also have a prominent opt-in form with a call to action statement.

The secret message here is, keep it simple. Never try to prove your artistic brilliance with your lead capture page, you will only complicate the process and make things harder for yourself.

After a career as a professional musician and band leader in the Miami South Florida Area I decided to see if I could make some money with this new internet thing. After years of trial and error I started to get the hang of it and now I am completely financially independent because of my various online businesses. The goal of this blog is to chronicle my continued marketing experiences. I focus on real examples of what works and what does not work. Google does not give us a recipe for getting our sites ranked. We have to use our own experiences to see what actually works rather than theory. I hope you enjoy the blog. Please let us know what you think in the comments area. We appreciate your feedback.
